Gender and politics are two fairly combustible topics, and when they come together, there is often reason to take cover. How shall we think about gender, politics, and their relationship so that they produce something life-giving rather than destructive? I shall argue that the key to doing so is avoiding narratives of decline or myths of progress; whilst gender is often used to support one or the other, doing so misses the point of both politics and gender.
