SPARK

SPARK Children’s Champions is a mentoring and coaching programme that works with primary school children and their families to restore hope and aspiration.

What we do

SPARK through St Nicholas and in partnership with TLG offer a mentoring programme for primary school children. Bereavement, family breakdown, poverty or being in the care system can have a huge impact on a child’s self-belief, confidence and mental health. All of which can lead to a child needing extra support in their education. During term time, our team of volunteer coaches run one-to-one sessions with the aim of reducing the child’s felt anxieties and increasing their resilience and confidence, preventing greater crises in the future.

How to get involved

We are looking for reliable, enthusiastic individuals who are able to commit one hour a week to support one child or a small group of children. You can sign up for six weeks or serve more long term allowing you to really invest in a child’s development. All volunteers receive specialist training equipping them with the resources and skills to work on a one-to-one basis with children and become a trusted support for the child, their teacher and their family.
